Man does not need to travel to expand himself; he carries within him the immensity.
— François-René de Chateaubriand

The Voyageur Café and boutique at Château de Combourg: an experience not to be missed…

The Château de Combourg in Ille-et-Vilaine, where Chateaubriand spent much of his childhood, boasts an elegant and welcoming space.

Located at the entrance of the historic residence, this 200 m2 area offers visitors books, souvenirs created by a selection of designers, handmade toys, and at the Traveler Café, artisanal pastries, all in a decor entirely redesigned by architect Dominique Tosiani of “La Maison Generale” in Saint-Malo.

Open every day in July and August, this welcoming and relaxing space was created with the participation of local businesses that contributed to its beautiful realization following the theme of “Dark Romance”, harmoniously blending raw materials such as wood and stone with contemporary lighting designed by Dominique Perrault. This pleasant and luminous space is perfectly suited for hosting private events.

Inspired by the owners, this new living space gives the castle and the park an evident extra soul, in line with the spirit of the wonderful writer and thinker of Romanticism, who drew the genius of his immense work from there…

The history of the castle and the soul of Chateaubriand, intimately intertwined, make this unique place both an event and an advent…
